There are some really cheap alternatives, such as this simple hanger, the Leonardo, that has been for sale for years at fifteen bucks, down from twenty when Collin covered it in 2007. It has a simple hook for the wheel and a plate to put under your rear wheel to protect the wall. Available here.

But unlike the more expensive designs, it holds the bike perpendicular to the wall rather than parallel to it, so the bike is not really on display, and might get in your way.
