Despite such peaceful-sounding founding principals, not everyone understood the eco game plan: The group's first location choice was then rejected by the near-by town.

"They expected some weird hippie commune with people dancing around trees naked," our tour guide explained.

A 30-acre potato farm was a worthy second choice -- and perhaps isolated enough that any naked tree dancing would go unnoticed.
