Connection Between Agriculture and Climate Takes Center Stage

As global warming became a hotter and hotter topic (no pun intended), the effects of the world's agricultural systems on climate change, and sustainable agriculture's ability to create a real, positive impact, really came into focus. The UN Environmental Programme issued a report detailing organic agriculture's role in averting a climate change-induced food crisis, and the European Union's commissioner for agriculture posited that organic agriculture should be a major weapon in the fight against rising carbon emissions. The message was clear: How the world produces its food, and how we tackle the fight against climate change must be addressed together.
