Green Wine Guide: The Solar-Powered Cline Cellars
Fred Cline started Cline Cellars back in 1982 and started making green wine in 2001. Originally located in Oakley, California, the establishment was moved to Carneros-Sonoma in 1991. In July of 2007, Cline opened up its sister vineyard across the street: Jacuzzi Family Vineyards.
Cline produces Rhone-style wines and Zins using sustainable farming practices. For example, some 1500 sheep and 500 goats are used to trim the weeds around the vines. Both vineyards are also 100-percent solar-powered.
