The rich, earthy flavor of mushrooms adds depth to pasta, pizza, and stews -- plus they're great on their own. In the spring, look for morels, a twisty mushroom that you'll find popping up when the temperatures climb to about 60 degrees during the day and stay above 40 at night.
If you're looking for your own in the woods, check river beds, decaying timber, and under bushes -- but make sure you research before you go so you don't pick a poisonous mushroom that mimics the morel.
