Long before there was a Passivhaus institute in Europe and a Passive House movement in America, there was passive solar design, which was very popular in the '70s. The Casa Solare, by Milanese architects Studio Albore, popped out of Designboom as part of that Seventies show; lots of wood, lots of south facing glass and solar panels on top. But a close look shows it to be very modern indeed.
