The Northport Power Station, a natural gas and oil-run electrical power station, located on Long Island, New York, has been a significant landmark for some time. It is the largest oil-fired power plant in the northeast, as well as the second most polluting plant on the East Coast. The plant emits 5.2 million metric tons of carbon dioxide every year.
