Perhaps more than anything else, access to reliably electricity is what defines civilization in the 21st century, and has for at least the past 60 years. In the rich nations of the world we often don't give a second thought to where our electricity comes from, or what is used to create it. It's just there, taken for granted. In fact, in rich nations, if that electricity is generated from fossil fuels, we're using too much of it and it's helping change our climate.
But in many parts of the world, and for a shockingly large number of people, even basic access to electricity is rare, unstable, or nonexistent. This has to change.
