Donald Quintana captured this great moment at Pismo Beach, California. The Peregrine falcon (Falco peregrinus) is a carnivore that usually eats smaller birds. You can see a touch of blood on this one’s talons. “This Peregine spent a great deal of time preening itself just after it ate a mid morning snack,” Quintana writes.
