People Power in China
Rickshaws (san lun che in Chinese, or three wheeled carts) are especially plentiful around Beijing's charming and ancient Houhai lake, a hot tourist and nightlife destination in the center of the city. Here, a prototype rickshaw made out of a Mini Cooper plies the lake side, where automobiles are mostly prohibited. Motorized rickshaws can be found in Beijing and other Chinese cities too, but these mostly cater to non-tourists.
