The awards were set up by Take a View, a photography prize created by a noted British landscape photographer. They are a way to record the landscape of the UK for now and the future and capture images that symbolise the land and the times. The winners show the beauty and variety of the landscape and the diversity of the country.

The prize is awarded in a number of different categories. It is a British prize, hence the location of all the photos.

The Young Photographer of the Year is Christopher Page, with this beautiful close-up of autumn leaves in Surrey. In these forest close-ups you have to focus on the leaves in the front and hope that the background is artfully indistinct, not just a blur.
