In attendance this year were senior government officials, including President Paul Kagame (at left), as well as foreign dignitaries, renowned conservationists, actor Don Cheadle (who was named a UNEP Goodwill Ambassador), wildlife photographer and UNEP Climate Hero Luo Hong, and thousands of local villagers. The public was invited to vote online and via SMS for their favorite names for the gorillas. The winning names were "Zoya," which refers to light in several languages, and "WakaWaka," or "to light up" in Swahili, which was the name chosen by children.
