Her impassioned performance of "We Shall Overcome" at Woodstock made Joan Baez one of the voices of her generation, but through the years her activism has included environmental as well as political causes. In 1998, she joined Julia Butterfly Hill and Bonnie Raitt to protest logging, and in 2006, Baez joined in a tree-sitting at South Central Farm in Los Angeles, opposing the eviction of 300 farmers.
