Ten minutes before the march was scheduled to begin, it wasn’t looking promising for the group assembled at Zuccotti Park yesterday. It was raining and the crowd was sparse. But a little after 5:00, more people arrived and the rain stopped. Organizers handed out small pots of plants and demonstrators brought out their signs.

The first Earth Day march was held in 1970 and traveled down 5th Avenue. This year, demonstrators brought their grievances to Wall Street, with chants like, "The oceans are rising, no more compromising!"
