10 Stunning Photos of Far Away Galaxies
Also known as M 104 or NGC 4594, this "unbarred" spiral galaxy (first observed in 1767) resides in the constellation of Virgo. At an apparent magnitude of +9.0, its bright nucleus (actually a supermassive black hole), distinctive large central bulge and gorgeous tilted dust lanes of cold atomic hydrogen gas can be viewed by amateur astronomers.
