Unlike most other carmakers, Volkswagen doesn't seem all that enthused about plug-in vehicles. They've been working on a few projects, but most of what they've been showing us so far is based on squeezing the most out of existing technologies. The new Golf BlueMotion concept, which was just introduced at the Paris Motor Show, is another example of this: It is powered by a turbodiesel engine (1.6-liter TDI, 81 kW / 108 hp, maximum torque of 250 Nm at 1,500 RPM) that consumes only 3.2 l/100 km (73.5 mpg US), equivalent to 85 gCO2/km.
