The Trials and Tribulations of a 320-Mile Bike Trip Raising Climate Awareness
This was my bike, the Caleb, donated to me for the trip by Organic Bikes. Made in Vietnam, most of the frame is rapidly renewable bamboo.
A bamboo bike is sort of like a flashy red convertible in the bike world, I realized. Strangers stopped and stared -- and wanted to touch it. The Caleb really has a gorgeous frame, and as an attention-grabbing environmental message, it was totally effective.
It also earned me the nickname "Bambi," by day two.
