Even almost 10 years after the Toyota Prius debuted worldwide, the market for fuel-efficient hybrids is not very competitive. Few models are available, the Prius still dominates in fuel economy and sales, and Toyota has the most hybrid models, winning the MPG race in most categories. But there's an exception: The 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid has humbled the Camry hybrid with its better handling, faster EV mode (up to 47 mph), and higher fuel economy (39 MPG combined versus 34 MPG for the Camry). It's good to see the market for hybrids become more competitive. Now, how about challenging the Prius while we wait for the electric Focus?
