A very big deal was made of following rules, signalling turns, stopping at red lights (at least for the people leading the cyclists). Police on bikes would block the way and let the rest of the cyclists through, much like they do for funerals. Most drivers were respectful and waited; only one that I know of leaned on his horn and started screaming at us.
