When will solar be cheap enough? (video)

The cost of solar power has been dropping fast! You can see on this very important graph that the reduction in cost has even accelerated lately, making clean power from the sun more cost-competitive with fossil fuels.

In this short animated video, Alexis Madrigal of The Atlantic gives an overview of why solar power is different and how fast prices are falling. It's a really cool short primer, a good companion to the recent Bloomberg solar facts one. I recommend you pass these along to family and friends who don't really follow such things. It's a good way to bring them up to date a bit (too many people don't realize that solar PV costs have fallen by orders of magnitude):
