Three Gorges Dam Wins China's National Quality Investment Award. Worst Timing (Nearly) Ever.

Just weeks after "urgent problems" with the Three Gorges Dam were disclosed by the Chinese government, it has awarded the Three Gorges Corporation the National Quality Investment Award. As for an explanation of the brilliantly poor timing of the award, The Guardian reports that the award had been decided weeks before the prime minister spoke of the all the problems with the massive dam.

Jonathan Watts aptly puts it:

It may not yet match Henry Kissinger's Noble Peace Prize as the most inappropriate award in history, but it terms of bad timing, it wins by a country mile.
Indeed.
