Google Invests $75M in 50MW Iowa Wind Farm

Showing Green Leadership Among Tech Companies

Google has made many investments in clean energy over the past few years (lots of wind and solar), and it's not done yet. The Mountain View behemoth keeps writing checks, and the latest one is for 75 million dollars for an undisclosed stake in a 50-megawatt wind farm in Rippey, about an hour's drive from Des Moines.

The Rippey wind project, which is currently operational, was developed by RPM Access and is should generate enough energy to power over 15,000 homes. The turbines were made by Nordex USA at their Jonesboro facility in Arkansas.

This investment brings Google to $990m invested in renewable energy, very close to the $1 billion milestone.
