The Most Important Fish In The Sea

Grist has an excellent article detailing the plight of Atlantic menhaden, dubbed by many as "the most important fish in the sea." While the fish are inedible to humans, they're perfect for turning into feed for aquaculture farms, poultry farms and other products. And that means we're sucking them out of the sea and away from a multitude of species that depend on them as a food source. Grist's article is a must read to learn about this most important fish that you've probably never heard of, and how our fishing of it is tipping the balance of ecosystems along the East Coast.
