Stunning Timelapse Video Shows the True Beauty of Yosemite

Project Yosemite/Video screen capture

There's nothing like a good timelapse video to showcase the beauty of a place or an event. When that place is Yosemite National Park, it's a recipe for an especially jaw-dropping few minutes. This video, called "Yosemite HD," is the product of Project Yosemite, a collaborative project by Sheldon Neill and Colin Delehanty to capture the true beauty of the national park.

Project Yosemite/Video screen capture

Neill and Delehanty met through Vimeo and made several trips to Yosemite for recording sessions. The result is a remarkable four minute video- one you'll want to watch in full screen. And if you've got a few extra minutes, watch the 'making of' video as well.

The threats facing Yosemite make the video somewhat poignant, as the beauty it captures may not exist in the near future. The park's big trees are disappearing. Its glaciers are melting and 20% more (and stronger) wildfires are forecast by 2050. So unless you want this video to be all future generations know of Yosemite, it's time to step up and take action to preserve our national treasures.
