Ski Areas Citizens' Coalition Environmental Report Card
Whether you're hitting the slopes early or late in the season, you'll want to know that your chosen resort lives up to its eco-friendly claims. The Ski Areas Citizens' Coalition is made up of nonprofits in Washington State and California, and is endorsed by conservation organizations across the Western US, where it reports on 77 resorts. The evaluation criteria include avoiding the development of undisturbed lands, protecting water quality, and minimizing traffic, energy use, emissions and pollution. The Coalition's web site allows you to write to your favorite resort to give feedback on its performance. Is yours in the top ten?All of these resorts received A ratings:
