Biking Through Amish Country for Climate Ride (Slideshow)

There is a certain irony in the fact that some of the best biking in the U.S. is in an area where people have rejected the modern world -- including bikes (for those of the Old Order).

Pennsylvania's Amish Country: With roads filled with more horse drawn carriages than cars, and rolling fields of farmland, obsessive photo snapping during the 68.7 mile, Day 3 of Brita Climate Ride NYC-DC 2011 made my time horrifically slow, despite the quality of the loaned wheels I had for the ride (the Cayo 1.0 road bike from Focus Bikes).

You don't have to be part of a 300-mile, 5-day climate awareness bike ride and fundraiser to realize that this region is inherently ingrained with a more sustainable approach to life.
