We have always wanted a US$5,100 Viking Fridge but resisted because they were not energy efficient. Now we just have no excuse at all- Viking, KitchenAid and Maytag are all coming out with Energy Star rated high end appliances, costing 50-100% more than their standard lines. On some appliances like dryers the payout is fairly quick, but on a fridge you might save $ 7-10 per year.
