Organic Shade Maker Aims at Closing the Loop

Hartmann & Forbes, maker of handmade window shades from natural and organic materials, has announced a take-back program aimed at closing the loop on the lifecycle of their products. Based in Portland, Oregon, Hartmann & Forbes has designed their artisan products after traditional methods using materials such as bamboos, grasses, jutes, and river reeds, from well-managed eco-systems, and treated with natural methods. The first program of its kind in the industry, shades sent back the company will be disassembled and recycled. Part of the company’s Project-Green, a set of ecological initiatives started in 2005, the take-back program coincides with the launch of 14 new organic weaves. :: Hartmann & Forbes
