Chandelier From the Sea

This beautiful gift from the sea is made of debris collected from the beach at Dungeness, a magical stretch of land under a nuclear reactor in southern England. The artist has gathered the pieces for years, and meticulously put them together to form this delicate work of art. It is functional, as a light. And it is also a statement about our disposable society that wastes and pollutes everywhere. The artist/designer specialises in using everyday objects in a way that changes our perception of them. :: Stuart Haygarth via :: The Observer Magazine
