Big Game Hunters

Vlaemesch—a new word that stands for "Flemish traditions, humour, design, simplicity, the surreal, no-nonsense, solidity and quality." These moosehead, deer and reindeer sculptures are modernised, abstract versions of the trophy animal head. They are an ironic statement against hunting. Their lightness and simplicity are in direct contrast to the reality of the chase and the stuffing of the animal heads. Made of light birch from sustainable forests, they come in a flat-pack, so can be easily mounted in the living room or up at the cottage. Created by a group of Belgian designers, this work makes use of clever optical illusions, with a slightly surrealistic note. :: Vlaemsch :: London Design Festival
