Ozzy Osbourne Embraces a Vegan Diet
There will be no more biting the heads off bats for the legendary front man of Black Sabbath. Ozzy Osbourne has gone vegan. Over his nearly 40 year career we’ve seen many layers of Ozzy Osbourne, from his post as the “Godfather of Heavy Metal” to a family man on his reality show The Osbournes. And once again, Ozzy shows his softer side by embracing a completely animal-free diet.
Blisstree reported that after watching the movie Forks Over Knives, Ozzy Osbourne decided to give up meat and dairy products entirely. Osbourne appeared on his wife’s talk show “The Talk” and said that the diet would make it easier for him to eat healthfully while on tour.
"I feel OK actually, I feel better about myself, you know? I go on binges... That's the reason why I decided to cut out meat out and dairy because I've limited what I can have because when you're on the road and you're traveling, you grab buns and... burgers are everywhere... so now I've just narrowed the margin."
While Osbourne openly admits that he’s not sure he’ll do this forever, it’s great to see that more and more celebrities are taking the plunge. A few weeks ago rocker Travis Barker announced that he too had turned the vegan tide after facing death in a plane crash in Columbia, S.C. Other famous vegan musicians include Morrissey, Andre 3000, Erykah Badu, Fiona Apple, Michael Franti, Moby, and Jason Mraz. And the numbers are only increasing.
Veganism is a just a new way of thinking about food. It’s about enjoying what you can have rather than fixating on what you can’t. It’s the most compassionate way to eat for yourself and for the planet, especially if you eat a whole foods vegan diet loaded with fruits, vegetables, beans, nuts, tofu, and seitan. So cheers to the Prince of Darkness for showing his compassionate side once more.
