Green at WIRED NextFest: GPS-Based Personal Environmental Impact Report (PEIR)

See PEIR in Action
To see what a PEIR personalized environmental report would look like, go to their site, click on "profile" and use the login and password "demo".

The Future of PEIR
As you can see from the photo above, the future of PEIR is 1) Making a cellphone version, so that you can get your environmental report on the go, in real-time, 2) Expanding coverage, with the goal of eventually having the whole US and international locations, and 3) Incorporating PEIR with car navigation systems, adding RSS functionality and incorporating new models to the existing ones.

Who Made This?
PEIR is a project of the Center for Embedded Networked Sensing (CENS) of UCLA. It is currently in closed beta, but we've been told that they hope to be able to open it up in 6 to 9 months, though that will depend on sponsors and partnerships (if you are interested, see their contact page)

WIRED NextFest 2008
WIRED NextFest is taking place in Chicago's Millenium Park between Saturday, September 27 and Sunday, October 12. It is free and open to the public. Just look for the big blue tent.
