Today is National Junk Food Day and that comes with a lot of negative connotations. Junk food is associated with childhood obesity and is a well-known provider of empty calories. However, a healthy lifestyle doesn't leave you without a way to celebrate National Junk Food Day this year!

Aggressive marketing makes junk foods have a large presence every where we turn, from bill boards to online. The temptation is easiest to resist when better alternatives are available. There are lots of recipes out there to make popular junk foods with healthier ingredients. Whether that makes something organic, vegan, or just lighter on the calories, cooking at home can save you pounds and money -- as long as you eat in moderation.
