Best Shelter Magazine: Dwell

Six months ago I would not have made this pick. We have dozens of posts about Dwell going back to the start of TreeHugger, but I thought it had run into a ditch. Four months ago I was mad at hell at Dwell over their prefab issue.

But the magazine world is changing quickly and we are losing a lot of them as advertising dries up. They are just so expensive to put together, to design, to do real art direction like we don't really do on the web. If a magazine is going to survive it has to be really good, and right now Dwell is on a roll. Its March issue on Learning from Down Under was wonderful, and the May Green issue that just came in the mail is a keeper, making the point that green has gone from niche to normal. Dwell is back with a vengeance.
