Robert F. Kennedy Jr. speaks at Lexus Hybrid Living's fundraiser for the Waterkeeper Alliance, where he spoke about clean energy and hybrid and electric cars. "The first priority has to be to invest in a national grid," he said. "[We need] appliance standards and machinery standards and building standards. Those are the fastest ways to get off of fossil fuels." Read TreeHugger's account of the event.

Charity Water Ball 2008

adrien grenier water photo
Adrian Grenier, of Entourage and Planet Green’s Alter Eco fame, hosted the third annual Charity: Water Ball, raising funds for the construction of wells and sanitation projects in Africa, India, and Central America. Held at the Metropolitan Pavilion in NYC, guests walked a "water runway" carrying two 40-pound jugs--a poignant reminder that people in developing nations often must trek to a well to fetch water. Each time someone strutted their stuff on the runway, corporate sponsors donated $80 to the charity.

10 Weird Forms of Human Transportation

weird human transportation powerisers photo
A version of spring-loaded stilts, Powerisers are part walking, jumping, or running, combined with a superhero-like ability to leap (small to medium-sized) objects in a single bound -- see them in action in this Powerisers video from their appearance on Planet Green's G Word. The amped-up leg extensions make mobility faster, bouncier, and more fun and/or more dangerous -- helmets and pads definitely recommend. They're hot enough to have their own entry in Wikipedia, where you can learn more about them, including where you can procure a pair, if you dare. Learn more at Powerisers Deutschland.

We’ve written about pretty much every step of Marine Current Turbine’s SeaGen progress, from project announcement to full power operation just last week. Now that it’s fully up and running in Northern Ireland, Marine Current has plans for larger projects in the UK and in North America.

Seven Overpackaging Sins

Ultralast says their batteries are green just because they're rechargeable. But their packaging choices show they don't necessarily make being green a company priority.
