The cardboard box is one of the best toys ever invented. Spare boxes can be forever crafted into something new, including furniture and accessories. Such is the case with this desk lamp design by Instructables user JesseHarringtonAu.

Showing each step from creating the design in CAD to laser cutting the cardboard (you can access a laser cutter at places like a local TechShop) to gluing the lamp together and installing the LEDs, this instructable project is a great intro for designing your own gadget.
