Once you've invested hundreds (and maybe even thousands) of dollars into an Apple product, the last thing you want is to see the device damaged. Electronics accompany us everywhere these days, from coffee shops to kitchen counters, and all that wear and tear can separate a Mac from it's brand-new sheen in minutes flat.

To address this, an entire industry of cases, covers, and other Apple accessories has sprung up in the market. But many of these are made from cheap, toxic materials, and few of them do more than merely cover the laptop's exposed surfaces. Many but not all. A new project on Kickstarter aims to create an accessory for the MacBook Pro that is both protective case and comfortable workstation, and 100% recyclable to boot!

"TheGreenCase evolved from a simple idea of making a laptop case out of a single sheet of material," writes Mika Becktor on the product's Kickstarter page. "After researching and investigating how people actually use laptop computers differently from touch pads and stationary computers, it became very clear to me what I had to create."

Becktor envisioned a Macbook case made from a single piece of recyclable cardboard that would create a more ergonomic computing experience one the user arrived at their destination, rather than being stowed in a backpack or shoved under the laptop. theGreenCase easily unfolds to provide an angled keyboard stand as well as suitable gap for ventilation.

The mouse pad provides a smooth and consistent surface for your mouse, and naturally clears the area around your laptop from other objects such as pens, paper, coffee cups etc. On the other side, you'll find a dedicated scratch resistant area for your smartphone, which keeps it close and scratch free.

And if you love the idea but don't think your clients will understand why you have a big piece of cardboard on your desk, theGreenCase also comes in a fancy upgraded version made from vegetable tanned tooling leather finished with vegetable based oils and leather balm.
