Iowa Energy Forum: Another Oil Industry Astroturf Group To Watch Out For

America's great polluting industries have been creating fake grassroots groups (astroturf, in you're new to the lingo) to give their viewpoint a folksy community quality for some time. Think Progress has another one to watch out for, the Iowa Energy Forum.Financed by the American Petroleum Institute provides at least part of the funding, according to their own rhetoric the Iowa Energy Forum is "a growing community of concerned citizens committed to two goals: achieving energy security for our country and holding our elected officials accountable for shaping energy policies."

Which to them means importing more highly polluting tar sands oil from Canada, more domestic oil drilling, and keeping the Federal subsidy tap flowing towards Big Oil.
