Maybe the best way that people living in the US can go green is simply to have fewer children. And the US has a much higher rate of unintended pregnancies than other developed nations--nearly half of all pregnancies in the US are unplanned. That's about 3 million a year. Which leads us to wonder--could more effective condom ads help lower those numbers, and our sprawling carbon footprint? These 10 popular condom ads are shown around the world--in nations with lower unintended pregnancy rates--but were rejected for being too sexually explicit in the US.

By way of comparison, France has an unintended pregnancy rate of 33%, and only 3% of French women at risk for unintended pregnancies don't use contraception. The root of the problem in the US is that contraception, like condoms, simply aren't being properly used. Who knows, maybe if ads like these were shown stateside, that could change . . .

Okay, now we're getting into trickier territory. The PR campaign for these 'Performa' condoms--which allegedly increase endurance--was launched in New Zealand, where people were given promotional pillows with portraits of ugly people printed on them along with the condoms.
