Wend Magazine Goes Into Bat for World Bicycle Relief

You might recall us mentioning how in the latest issue of Wend magazine, they not only asked if wave farms might attract sharks, but also gave over their Platform section to F.K. Day, President of the World Bicycle Relief . WBR are the guys who are on a mission to see 50,000 bicycles donated to Asian and African countries, alongside 450 locals trained as bike mechanics.
Anyhow to help them along their way, Wend magazine recently threw a Bicycle Bash, including a table tennis tournament, to raise a penny or two for the cause. They enlisted the assistance of a veritable Who’s Who of eco outdoor and cycling companies, most of who have previously graced the pixels of TreeHugger.
There was Nau, Lizard Lounge, Horny Toad, Keen, Teko Socks, Portland Design Works, Planet Bike, Timbuk2, and Rickshaw Bags. Plus a bunch others that maybe we should visit, like Kryptonite, Chris King, Nuun, Innate, Nutcase Helmets, Light & Motion, River City Bicycles, and Cyclelogical.
Whilst giving a bunch of more than 400 Portland, Oregon groovers a good time, i, the event raised over $1,000 for the World Bicycle Relief. Or in more concrete terms it provided for seven Zambian students to receive bicycles. Who’d have thought that playing ping pong could pay for pushbikes for poor pupils?

UPDATE: Seems preparing posts in the wee hours of the morning makes me somewhat dyslexic. I unfortunately had the name of the World Bicycle Relief all mixed up. It's now fixed. Thanks to Chris Stout at WBR for gently pointing out my error.
