John Reeves' Cast Aluminum Furniture (Video)

Industrial designer John Reeves uses local materials and labour to make his furniture- in Viet Nam. Aluminum is recycled from old Honda engine blocks and sand-cast; wood is sustainably harvested oak. It is not as durable as teak, but John doesn't trust the teak.
The Designer writes:
No synthetics and apart from oak slats made in 100% recycled aluminium. It is a tough product that will stand the test of time and endure the elements for generations- this is solid longevity.Casting allows a simplicity of fabrication that ensures solid durability, it also gives an opportunity to be more efficient during the production process as any mistakes can be easily melted down and cast again.
