miniHome Hitting California - Gitcher Perfectly Petite Prefab Here

The miniHome is one of our favorite tiny house designs and we've watched it continually evolve over the last few years. Sustain was at a workshop this week in San Francisco held in conjunction with Dwell, where Andy Thomson and Trevor McIvor presented the newest miniHome model.

Sustain currently has 5 miniHomes in production, including for residents of California. It's completely road-legal, so you can haul it down the highway from production site to home site without hassle. And the team notes it costs about the same to ship it via truck as it would to hop in a cab going to the same destination. (So if you're shipping a miniHome from Toronto to Sacramento, it's the same cost as taking a taxi the same distance. That's pretty darn cheap considering you're shipping a beautiful, tiny home.)

The appeal of the miniHome is spreading, as evidenced by the workshop packed with potential buyers. We see smaller and smaller eco-homes popping up, and while luxury homes with far more square footage than necessary are not going anywhere, at least the idea, and hopefully the production, of the miniHome is outpacing them.
