House cats of the world rejoice, as the annual Cardboard Chair Design Student Competition results are announced today. Six finalists are being judged at the AIA convention in San Francisco for their designs.

Cardboard chairs have been all the rage ever since Frank Gehry's horrendously impractical wiggle chair was introduced in 1969.

Designers have been playing with the flammable, dissolvable-if-you-spill-your-drink, cat-attracting and just disintegrate-before-your-eyes material ever since.

No one knows why.
