Joel Makower Says We Have Just 5,000 More Days (Video)

At Compostmodern, Joel Makower stressed the importance of designing differently by noting that we have just 5,000 days to completely change the way we operate in this world. Click through to watch the video.
When asked later where the 5,000 days number came from, Makower said, to the audience's complete amusement, "I made it up."
His reasoning, he explained, is that it usually takes about 10 years for an idea to come to fruition and be fully adopted by a group of people. Adding into that how rapidly our climate is changing, he figured 5,000 days sounds about right.
