Naked Chair Exposes Everything
by Lloyd Alter, Toronto
on 01.21.09

"Naked is an extremely lightweight chair that uses its structure as its aesthetic." And, like so much of the world, it is held together by wingnuts.

The strength of this chair is due to action-reaction forces between the folded steel sheets and beech wood frame. It also flat packs in transportation and can be assembled without tools, resulting in a very low carbon foot-print.

The designers are an international collective that-
was born out of a fortuitous meeting in Stockholm, hence the name Outofstock. [we can only assume because the joke used to be that IKEA was Swedish for "Sorry, Out of Stock."] Gabriel Tan and Wendy Chua from Singapore, Gustavo Maggio from Argentina and Sebastian Alberdi from Spain met at Electrolux Design Lab in 2005.
