Waiting On A Green Renaissance

Using 2008 as a reference point, 2009 promises a blizzard of political debris, lofted by an un-closeting of science. And, if history be any guide, the chatterboxes of US radio and TV will try to bury the ideas of a barely-formed green sub-culture in drifts of insensible talking points.

The prospect of a Green Renaissance is faint indeed, seen through the lens of 2008. No wonder I am reluctant to let go of this fall's imagery: like the roasted pumpkin on my stove top, pictured here. And others.

She dries her hair quietly, at the wood stove.

I do hope we'll have a Happy New Year, un-burying ourselves and learning together.

Onward, then!

As the founder of Green Renaissance I state the following. When looking at the massive shift in global conscientiousness that I call the green renaissance through a 2008 lens, it would probably be clouded with toxic oil smoke from resource wars and failed economies that are direct results of the tragic bush years. Full of lies, corruption and blatant disregard for the environment. It is like seeing an child as an infant and determining that it will be just like it's parents. The green renaissance is beginning to affect every individual and demographic on the face of the earth but the true cultural rebirth into a sustainable society will not come to fruition until we have identified the very fabric and purpose of this change. It is then we do such things as putting solar panels are on every roof top, geothermal heating/cooling for every building, wind turbines in every place with class 4-7 winds, organic food grown on every farm, stores implementing standards to only sell organic food, all plastics be made with cellulose instead of petrochemicals, planned obsolescence be banned so that products are made to last, all bio waste is converted into bio-fuel and everything else is recycled, all vehicles run on bio-fuel/electricity, and massive environmental restoration is implemented with millions of new trees being planted in our wake.

As far as using history as a guide, let us remember some of the other renaissance's of days long past like the Carolingian renaissance of the 8th and 9th century. That one brought literature, new arts and types of architecture. The was also the 12th century renaissance which brought sociopolitical and economic transformation. Of course there is the famous 15th and 17th century Italian renaissance which begot learning in a more classical sense which resulted in advancements in educational reform, linear perspectives in painting and a mass uprising of intellectuality that resulted in the formation of scientific mind frame. Now lets imagine what it would have been like to live in the first few years of any of these world changing events that historians look back upon now and call a renaissance. It is possible that you would have not have noticed a renaissance was taking place! It is possible that in one hundred to three hundred years from now the world will be closer to the vision of the Venus project which is truely renaissance-like.

I also state that the renaissance will officially begin on January 20th, of 2009. This is when the pendulum swings on the powers at play. There will be no choice but to begin to push the media chatterboxes to enlighten mainstream society to green lifestyle choices. It is imperative that the everyday person has access to the information and technologies to eliminate the existence of exclusive ideas such as a green sub-culture.
The word renaissance is french in origin and means "rebirth". Everywhere around you today a rebirth is unfolding. With the collapse of world financial markets this year old ways are going out the door and new ones are knocking fervently. America just elected it's first African American president marking a glorious step away from the ways of oppression and injustice that were in place not too long ago. We have companies such as Green Renaissance LLC stepping up to the plate and making changes where they are desperately needed. Long from now historians might just look back and call these moments the most critical in human history and when they describe it they will say it began by going green and ended in a renaissance.

The Green Renaissance is upon us

Uh-huh. Only one problem. If your little utopian fantasy depends on financial markets "collapsing", you'll be waiting a long time.

Dear Lord! The market is doing exactly what it did in, uh, 1931? Er, wait. No ... January 2000. We all remember the breadlines of 2000, don't we? No? Ah, well.

"I also state that the renaissance will officially begin on January 20th, of 2009."

The way you're talking, don't you mean that's the beginning of The Rapture?

Why not just call it Year Zero? It was good enough for the Khmer Rouge, it should be good enough for the Khmer Vert.

Stock markets are on a downward spike which is chilling to say the least. Compounded with the rising national deficit, and consumer debt at an all time high, and savings per capita lower than ever, we are in for quite a ride. On top of that the fact that stock markets if they were calculated at 1931 prices would be about equal. We all know that Stock markets aren't calculated at 1931 prices (so just ask yourself how much of the stock growth was from inflation of the dollar). If you adjust prices for year 2008 and year 1931 using chain weighted GDP, you find that this economic slump is near, if not close to being as bad as the great depression, AND ITS ONLY BEGUN!!!

Now, I ask something from you. Go out and make your community greener. Buy products that are green. Reuse products that are not until they are no longer useful (unless they are harmful in current form). Go out and do research to make the world a better place. Install a wind generator, a solar panel, buy a air powered car.
