Fox News Launches Green Website

We are pleased to welcome a new entry into the green blogosphere; TreeHugger hero Rupert Murdoch, fresh off our "CEOs Who Made an Environmental U-Turn" post, has launched How Green? on Fox News. In it's trademarked Fair and Balanced style (seen earlier in it's exposé of working conditions and insufficient clothing for PETA workers) it covers green living, green tech, and since imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, we cannot help but love their homophonic "plan it green section."
Our source EcoRazzi thinks it Hilarious: FOX News Starts A Green Website.
I don't think it is a joke at all; I think they are deadly serious.

Every day, there are fewer people listening to them, and fewer places for their audience to share their views where they are not laughed out of the discussion, if their comments are posted at all. John Holdren is advising the president, the Senate and House are irretrievably lost, MSNBC is eating their lunch.
The name How Green? says it all. Fox is putting up a dartboard for an embittered, disenfranchised and shrinking audience with nowhere else to go.
Fair and balanced in action:
They pick up wire stories from the Times of London like "Seas Will Rise Faster Than Predicted, Say Scientists", balanced by the most scholarly of comments:
"What is the mechanism behind sea levels rising? When the ice melts in my cup I don’t get an increase in water level (I measured it). Since glaciers are like giant ice cubes, wouldn’t their melting not affect the ocean levels?"
the science fiends in the comments liked this idea, quoting experts:
How can you explain backing up your information with theory when using actual proof you can say that the ocean level will NOT rise at all.James O’Brien, an emeritus professor at Florida State University who studies climate variability and the oceans said recently “When the Arctic Ocean ice melts, it never raises sea level because floating ice is floating ice, because it’s displacing water,” O’Brien said. “When the ice melts, sea level actually goes down.
“I call it a fourth grade science experiment. Take a glass, put some ice in it. Put water in it. Mark level where water is. Let it met. After the ice melts, the sea level didn’t go up in your glass of water. It’s called the Archimedes Principle.”
When they ask their audience "Is Global Warming Real" these are the results:

response to question: Is Global Warming Real?
Similarly, on their post from Associated Press, Temperatures Rising Unevenly Across North America
The Balanced voice of reason and experience responds in the comments:
I am a farmer from Iowa. We have just harvested one of the biggest corn crops in history. I am convinced one of the reasons that it was so big is the extra carbon dioxide in the air. Plants use as much carbon dioxide as they can get.
and the Gotcha Gang is out there with the real research:
This article is just filled with inconsistencies. In fact the following quote can be found in another article on FOXnews.com “The mean global temperature, at least as measured by satellite, is now the same as it was in the year 1980. In the last couple of years sea level has stopped rising. Hurricane and cyclone activity in the northern hemisphere is at a 24-year low and sea ice globally is also the same as it was in 1980.” This quote can be backed up if you google global temperatures.
and harsh words:
Just more hysteria! Stop it! How do you people sleep at night? Humans have nothing to do with climate change and you should know it. Who burnt coal and drove cars in prehistoric and medeival times? The earth’s cycles will happen regardless of our presence on it. You people are just opportunists!
You Decide at How Green while it lasts.

I also like how none of their links on the menus seem to work yet.
Read this blog post and watch the video to get an idea about what Fox News thinks of green: http://www.ecorazzi.com/2008/12/22/fox-news-slams-peta-belittles-kids-for-trying-to-go-green/
I am cynical so the idea of Fox putting up a green motivated website is the equivalent to Dick Cheney starting a website on banishing torture.
They will try anything for advertising dollars. The same corporation produces Family Guy also gives air time to Evangelical Christians who pan it. They probably have little actual political interest, just the cash.
Whenever you get a chance, go to the website and leave a note in the comments about personal responsibility. That's what the talking heads on Fox News blab about so lets have more of it. No excuses for Climate Change. No excuses for what just happened in TN. We caused this mess. It is our responsibility to fix it.
Wow...just....wow. Words fail me.
On another note, I have a shipping estimate for my Hymotion Prius PHEV conversion module: February! I was kind of hoping falling gas prices would dampen demand a bit, but apparently not. I suppose it's for the best, and I want Hymotion to do well, but I hate waiting.
Ehhhh This site is just a splog... feeds from the AP and others with "green stories".
This is sort of a joke....
Checking the Green Fox poll you referenced above, it's moved to 60-40 in favor of the reality of climate change.
Since I doubt if the Know-Nothings have suddenly started acquiring an education, it's likely the desired effect is in process, e.g., some of the people driven away by reactionary politics have started dropping by.
I did - and I voted.
I'll post about the phenomenon at my personal blog - and the "big" blog where I'm an editor - tomorrow [Monday]. It wil be fun busting balls on our [minority of] resident Fox Noise watchers.
