Fox News Launches Green Website

Every day, there are fewer people listening to them, and fewer places for their audience to share their views where they are not laughed out of the discussion, if their comments are posted at all. John Holdren is advising the president, the Senate and House are irretrievably lost, MSNBC is eating their lunch.

The name How Green? says it all. Fox is putting up a dartboard for an embittered, disenfranchised and shrinking audience with nowhere else to go.

Fair and balanced in action:

They pick up wire stories from the Times of London like "Seas Will Rise Faster Than Predicted, Say Scientists", balanced by the most scholarly of comments:

"What is the mechanism behind sea levels rising? When the ice melts in my cup I don’t get an increase in water level (I measured it). Since glaciers are like giant ice cubes, wouldn’t their melting not affect the ocean levels?"

the science fiends in the comments liked this idea, quoting experts:

How can you explain backing up your information with theory when using actual proof you can say that the ocean level will NOT rise at all.

James O’Brien, an emeritus professor at Florida State University who studies climate variability and the oceans said recently “When the Arctic Ocean ice melts, it never raises sea level because floating ice is floating ice, because it’s displacing water,” O’Brien said. “When the ice melts, sea level actually goes down.

“I call it a fourth grade science experiment. Take a glass, put some ice in it. Put water in it. Mark level where water is. Let it met. After the ice melts, the sea level didn’t go up in your glass of water. It’s called the Archimedes Principle.”

The Balanced voice of reason and experience responds in the comments:

I am a farmer from Iowa. We have just harvested one of the biggest corn crops in history. I am convinced one of the reasons that it was so big is the extra carbon dioxide in the air. Plants use as much carbon dioxide as they can get.

and the Gotcha Gang is out there with the real research:

This article is just filled with inconsistencies. In fact the following quote can be found in another article on FOXnews.com “The mean global temperature, at least as measured by satellite, is now the same as it was in the year 1980. In the last couple of years sea level has stopped rising. Hurricane and cyclone activity in the northern hemisphere is at a 24-year low and sea ice globally is also the same as it was in 1980.” This quote can be backed up if you google global temperatures.

and harsh words:

Just more hysteria! Stop it! How do you people sleep at night? Humans have nothing to do with climate change and you should know it. Who burnt coal and drove cars in prehistoric and medeival times?

The earth’s cycles will happen regardless of our presence on it. You people are just opportunists!
