The highest ranking competitors in the California Clean Tech Open are about to get a big boost from the city of San Jose.
In an effort to nurture clean tech during a time when venture capitalists are beginning to trim investments, the city is awarding 12 innovators with some pretty sweet prizes.
San Jose has entered into a partnership with the California Clean Tech Open, an annual competition for clean tech entrepreneurs, to place this year’s top-ranked competitors in San Jose’s Environmental Business Cluster, the country’s top incubator for environmentally oriented startups. That means they will receive free space and first-rate business services for one year at the Environmental Business Cluster. Award winners will be announced Thursday night, November 6.
We'll keep our eyes open for the winners and let you know what amazing innovations are getting a jump start on the industry.
San Jose is certainly excited, considering this falls right in line with their Green Vision. The city now has about 40 clean tech companies employing 2,500 people, but their goal is to create 25,000 clean tech jobs within a decade. Helping boost these clean tech innovators will get them closer to their goal...and closer to our goal as a nation for boosting green collar jobs.
