Next week on November 13th the great and good of the British fashion industry will demonstrate their commitment to ethical fashion by attending the groundbreaking RE:Fashion Awards. This event will be the world's first dedicated awards ceremony for ethical fashion and you can be there! Tickets are on sale now, so you can grab your opportunity to rub shoulders with British fashion icons such as Vivienne Westwood and Katharine Hamnett, as well as the new style setters such as Daisy Lowe and Leah Wood. Keep reading to find out which of your favourite ethical labels has been shortlisted for an award.
Mainstream and Ethical Get Together
An oft made complaint about the mainstream fashion industry and the ethical fashion industry is that they don't interact or connect, but seem to run alongside each other in parallel directions. However, the great coup of the RE:Fashion Awards is that probably for the first time we will see the mainstream and ethical industries socialising, intermingling and celebrating the great leaps forward made by independent designers towards sustainable fashion.
Iconic Catwalk
On the catwalk we will see a dress designed especially for the event by the legendary Vivienne Westwood modelled by latest hot model Daisy Lowe. There will also be one off pieces from Zandra Rhodes, Preen, Todd Lynn, Jonathan Saunders, Bora Aksu and Allegra Hicks. The awards have also received support from high street retailer Marks + Spencers, Top Shop and New Look. This is an unprecedented mix of haute couteur, high street and ethical fashion. Just what we need to move sustainability into the mainstream!
