Solar Cooking Extreme - Eggs in Ten Seconds

From our pick of favorite solar cookers for the home to our coverage of industrial-scale solar cooking, TreeHugger is certainly no stranger to using the sun to prepare your meals. But I for one have never seen anyone cook with solar as fast as Denise Rojas, host of Green Power Science (yes, it’s the folks who brought us the solar space heater made from recycled campaign signs). Using a fresnel lense, Denise cooks scrambled eggs in about ten seconds – though she does have to wear some mad scientist goggles to do so! Click below the fold for more fun DIY solar projects.

Thats just stupid!
HA! Did I see a flame?!
That's great. I love the goggles. I wonder what'll happen if she put a can of coke on it.
She may need to go back to the lab on that one. It's like those 409 commercials when the janitor tries to use the 410.

Wow! That is awesome! I live in Florida, and people say you can fry an egg on the asphalt in the summer. I have never actually tried it, but I am sure it would work, especially after seeing this video.
That is great, I wonder how hot it was outside, what time of day it was, and how long the pan had to sit there for it to be hot enough to work? I see a future in a challenge to the grill as another way of cooking outside.
Thank you for the great post!
That's a lot of sunlight...
the eggs in the pan looks good.I am sure it tastes different.
that did not take 10 seconds, by the time she said it was cooked, she'd killed the egg entirely, GAWD, some people!
after about 6 seconds the egg was ready to come off the.. erm, light hehe and be served!
Interesting, but, still, if your going to show us, cook properly!
@ Ben - don't flame. It isn't a "how to cook great eggs" but showing the potential for using magnified light.
Imagine how many ants you could fry on the sidewalk with one of those magnifying glasses! Awesome!
well, the most important is that the eggs get cooked :)
